Bibby Distribution’s continued commitment to safety has been rewarded with another two gold awards from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).

The road transport specialist has received a gold award in Health and Safety for the third consecutive year, and a gold award in Fleet Safety for the second time.

Bibby Distribution’s Head of Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ), Andrew Mawson, says: “Retaining a RoSPA Gold Award requires much more than just safe operation – you need to demonstrate you’ve made even more improvements to an already robust safety record. We’ve invested heavily in training and technology, and it’s making Bibby Distribution an even safer place to work for every team member.”

Among the latest safety investments made by Bibby Distribution include hosting new training courses endorsed by the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH), and providing more than £1 million of in-cab cameras across its 650-strong fleet of tractor units and rigid trucks.

The two in-cab cameras – one facing the driver and the other monitoring the road ahead – are integrated with Bibby Distribution’s existing full fleet telematics and used to tackle driver behaviours, such as harsh acceleration and braking. This information is then used to create training programmes to help company drivers hone their skills.

Both initiatives are part of Bibby Distribution’s Road to Zero strategy, aimed at achieving zero harm, zero waste and zero environmental impact from its operations.
