Change At The Top At Weserport In Bremen.

17 April, 19

Rudolf Egbert has been appointed managing director at the Bremen seaport services provider, Weserport; this development took effect on 1 April 2019. The 52-year-old spent many years working for ArcelorMittal and was until very recently executive director at ArcelorMittal Commercial Germany.

Rudolf Egbert follows in the footsteps of Glenn Kneipp, who has resigned his position as managing director of Weserport as planned and has returned to ArcelorMittal Bremen.

Rudolf Egbert is aiming to introduce fresh momentum at Weserport working alongside the long-standing managing director, Heiner Delicat, and forge ahead with digital procedures. He is taking over responsibility for the operating processes at the port, while Heiner Delicat will be in charge of the sales, finances and marketing departments within the Weserport management system.

“As a trained IT specialist, Rudolf Egbert is a specialist in the field of digitalisation, which is now focusing our minds more than ever before. He not only has many years of corporate management experience, but is also familiar with the challenges facing our port in Bremen,” says Weserport Managing Director, Heiner Delicat, explaining the appointment.

Rudolf Egbert completed his university degree in computer science and business management. He initially worked as a software developer at Kraft Foods Deutschland and EDS Deutschland. He moved to ArcelorMittal in 2001 and held various management positions in Bremen and Tallinn. He worked as managing director of ArcelorMittal Bremen between 2011 and 2016, before he moved to ArcelorMittal Commercial Germany in 2017 to provide support for the switch to digitalised processes there.
