Ambitious global logistics operator Europa Worldwide Group has recruited a new Seafreight Operations Manager to steer its import and export offering towards further growth and expansion.

Experienced Operations Manager Scott Powell joins Europa Air & Sea, a dedicated division of Europa Worldwide Group, shortly after the air and sea business achieved a record £35million turnover milestone.

Europa Worldwide Group recently announced its annual financial results for year ending 31st December 2018, showcasing record turnover and profit – the turnover has increased by 25 per cent to £180m, net profits have risen to £5.2m and net assets have increased to £11m.

Scott joined Europa from a regional freight forwarder where he was responsible for managing a multi-modal team, delivering exceptional customer service, and focusing on productivity within the operation.

He worked his way up to a managerial position having joined the industry straight from school, boosting his skill set along the way to cover supplier, budget, route and project management, along with tender proposals, process improvement and sales negotiation.

Scott said:

“I’m delighted to join Europa Air & Sea at such an exciting time for the business, when turnover is at its highest ever, profits are soaring and new business is always on the agenda. I was attracted to the business because it really stands out from its competitors with its bold brand, extremely ambitious goals and revolutionary processes – while at the same time having a really close-knit family-feel to the team.

“I wanted to take the next step in my career which would offer me the opportunity to progress into a senior management role in time – and I certainly see that on the horizon at Europa because the Directors are discernibly focused, and so committed to the personal development of those in their teams. I already feel like I’m part of the Europa family and I’m looking forward to contributing to the success of the business going forward.”

Scott is based at Europa’s Birmingham site, leading a team of nine people who report directly to him across the import and export operation.

Europa Air & Sea Director Angus Hind said:

“Scott is a fantastic addition to our team and he’s already demonstrated a great deal of flair, enthusiasm and vision in the short time he’s been with us. It’s so important to have a positive, friendly and proactive person managing our operations team and Scott has all these qualities in abundance.

“We are bucking the current trend with the growth we’re experiencing on Asia-Europe trade lane, and the export side of the business is also following suit – Scott’s skill set will shore up our recent successes and will help us to build upon our new business wins to further improve our offering to customers.”

Europa Worldwide Group is a specialist road, air & sea, warehouse and showfreight operator employing more than 900 people across its 16 sites in the UK, as well as Hong Kong, Belgium and the Czech Republic, with representation in 100 countries.
