Bibby Distribution has received a record five annual safety awards from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) and the British Safety Council (BSC) after achieving its safest year to date.
During 2019, the 3PL documented its lowest-ever total of RIDDORs (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations) and overall lost time accidents (LTAs). Total accidents were reduced by a third compared to 2018.
As a result, the business has been awarded with a company-wide Gold honour from RoSPA, and a Merit Award from the BSC for the fourth year running.
In addition, and for the first time, Bibby Distribution’s sites in Avonmouth, Corby and Droitwich each received individual RoSPA Gold awards.

“Safety has never been more important than it is now and these awards are welcome recognition for the hard work put in by our teams to put safety first consistently, and to improve our safety record on a continuous basis.
“It has required a lot of focus from every team at every level, but we have achieved a true cultural shift in how safety is viewed across all of our work and the results speak for themselves.”
Over the past five years Bibby Distribution has invested more than £1 million in safety equipment and training.
Last year, the company also introduced three internal campaigns: Key Behaviours, aimed at increasing safety reporting while reducing trips and slips; Get Out And Look (GOAL) supporting drivers to reduce the risk of road collisions; and Come Home Safe, a cultural campaign encouraging a proactive approach to safety through highlighting the importance of families, pets and outside work interests and everyone’s responsibility to help each other.
The campaigns form part of Bibby Distribution’s Road to Zero strategy, aimed at achieving zero harm, zero waste and zero environmental impact from its operations.
