The Freight Transport Association (FTA) is launching a pioneering new service aimed at supporting operators who want to join the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency’s (DVSA) voluntary Earned Recognition Scheme.

The Earned Recognition Data Hub, being launched at the Commercial Vehicle Show today (24 April), will bring together both vehicle maintenance and driver data from multiple sources and has been designed to be a low-cost, not-for-profit solution to help the industry.  Any surplus made will be donated to a charity to promote the image of the industry and attract new talent.

The Earned Recognition (ER) scheme is growing rapidly in popularity and is already being used by more than 50 businesses.  FTA will support operators who want to join the voluntary scheme, enabling them to gain industry recognition, save money and avoid being stopped at the roadside.

FTA’s Chief Executive David Wells, who launched the new service at Motor Transport’s Innovation Hub at the CV Show, said:

“DVSA’s Earned Recognition requires operators to prove they meet certain driver and vehicle standards.  We know that collecting data from multiple sources can prove challenging and costly, and so using FTA expertise we have developed an industry-leading software solution to help operators get the most from DVSA’s Earned Recognition.

“Not only does the ER Data Hub take your vehicle maintenance data and report against DVSA Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), it can integrate driver data if you have multiple tachograph analysis providers too.  We want to help operators capture 100 per cent of their fleet data with the confidence that it is held confidentially, securely and not used for commercial gain.”

Efficient logistics is vital to keep Britain trading, directly having an impact on more than seven million people employed in the making, selling and moving of goods.  With Brexit, new technology and other disruptive forces driving change in the way goods move across borders and through the supply chain, logistics has never been more important to UK plc.  A champion and challenger, FTA speaks to Government with one voice on behalf of the whole sector, with members from the road, rail, sea and air industries, as well as the buyers of freight services such as retailers and manufacturers.
