FTA Strengthens Multimodal Offering With New Policy Manager.

18 November, 19

FTA has today (18 November 2019) announced the appointment of Zoe McLernon as its Multimodal Policy Manager, a newly created role to strengthen FTA’s position as the only business organisation representing all aspects of the UK logistics sector.

Miss McLernon will join FTA’s 17-strong policy team to speak on behalf of its multimodal members to stakeholders and government; she will work tirelessly to ensure their interests are represented and their views heard and acted upon.

Alex Veitch , FTA’s Head of Multimodal Policy, comments:

“FTA’s membership is growing larger and more varied each year – we now have 18,000 member businesses across the logistics spectrum – so it is important our policy team reflects this diversity. With her extensive experience in UK transport policy, Zoe is perfectly placed to grow FTA’s influence within the multimodal space. Her appointment will cement FTA’s position as the only business organisation representing all aspects of the logistics sector: rail, road, sea and air, as well as buyers of freight services. We are thrilled she has decided to join our policy team; I look forward to working with her closely to ensure we are delivering the best possible outcomes for our multimodal members.”

New starter Zoe McLernon comments:

“With multimodal operations growing in size and prominence, I am thrilled to be at the forefront of this exciting and complex area. And with FTA’s reputation as the most influential business organisation in the logistics sector, I am confident that, in partnership with the wider policy team, we can deliver real change for our members.”

Efficient logistics is vital to keep Britain trading, directly having an impact on more than seven million people employed in the making, selling and moving of goods. With Brexit, new technology and other disruptive forces driving change in the way goods move across borders and through the supply chain, logistics has never been more important to UK plc.  A champion and challenger, FTA speaks to government with one voice on behalf of the whole sector, with members from the road, rail, sea and air industries, as well as the buyers of freight services such as retailers and manufacturers.
