Together with numerous guests and partners, Garbe Industrial Real Estate GmbH and Euziel International GmbH have now celebrated the opening of the new logistics center in Witten (Ennepe-Ruhr district in North Rhine-Westphalia) with an official handover of the keys.

“With the new building, we can now consolidate the quantities of goods from several external warehouses in a modern logistics facility and process them even more efficiently,” says Yi Kong, Managing Director of Euziel, highlighting the advantages of the location for the company. “At the same time, we’re moving our European headquarters to Witten.”

A decision whose importance is also underlined by the fact that Chuan Song, founder and owner of Euziel, had travelled from Henan in China especially for the inauguration.

The logistics property, with a hall area of 22,000 square meters, was erected on a 75,000 square meter site in the Brauckstraße industrial estate. Right next to the new Euziel building, Garbe Industrial Real Estate has already developed a 5,000 square meter depot for the delivery service provider Hermes Germany, which has been handling consignments there for onward transport to and from end customers since June 2019.

“With the logistics center for Euziel, we have altogether achieved an investment project worth around 24 million euros,” says Jan Dietrich Hempel, Managing Director of Garbe Industrial Real Estate GmbH. This also includes funds for the redevelopment of the former brownfield site, which was contaminated by residues from several fires. Jan Dietrich Hempel adds, “As a specialist in conversion sites, we were able to draw on the know-how we had already gathered during the regeneration of a number of other industrial wastelands.”

Euziel International specializes in the import, export and sale of consumer goods. With several million customers per month, the company is, by its own admission, one of Amazon’s biggest sellers. Under the Songmics brand, mainly products such as office furniture, sporting goods, pet accessories and accessories for the home and garden are offered online. These items are now stored in the new logistics center and picked and dispatched from there to end customers throughout Europe. Launch is scheduled for the beginning of December, after completion of the move.

The total area available for logistics processes is around 21,000 square meters, almost 2,400 square meters of which are in a mezzanine floor. In addition, there is about 1,000 square meters of office space. For fast loading and unloading of the trucks, the twelve-meter-high hall is equipped with 20 bays. The outside area also has parking spaces for eight trucks, 80 cars and 40 swap bodies.

“Thanks to its convenient location, the former Brownfield site is extremely attractive as a location for logistics services,”

stresses Jan Dietrich Hempel. The Witten-Annen junction to the 448 motorway, which connects Dortmund’s southwest with Wattenscheid, is just a few hundred meters away. The Ruhrschnellweg/ Ruhr Expressway and the motorways 43 Münster/Wuppertal and 45 Dortmund/Aschaffenburg are also within easy reach.
