KNAPP Wins MHI Innovation Award For redPILOT Software.

Leading intralogistics automation provider, KNAPP, recently won the award for Best IT Innovation at the 2019 Material Handling Industry (MHI) Innovation Awards. One of three prizes awarded annually by MHI, the USA’s largest material handling and logistics association, the accolade was awarded at a ceremony at the ProMat exhibition in Chicago.

The prize was awarded for redPILOT, a new cloud software solution for optimizing warehouse logistics, which has been developed by redPILOT GmbH, a start-up company within the KNAPP group. The redPILOT solution helps warehouse operators to use available resources – such as systems, personnel, energy, space and materials – dynamically and intelligently in order to optimize performance in a context of constantly changing factors such as order structure, delivery dates and store optimizations. All experience gained is used for machine learning, forming the basis for operations scheduling and online optimization of bottlenecks. KNAPP’s KiSoft logistics software ensures excellent system integration.

Siegfried Zwing, Managing Director of redPILOT GmbH, presented the solution to an independent jury at ProMat and subsequently accepted the award on behalf of the KNAPP group. “This prize is a sign of the high regard for our new product on the American market,” said Siegfried Zwing. “Since receiving the award we have already received countless enquiries and we will be able to use this as a starting point for our growth strategy. The award proves that Austrian innovation is impressing companies around the world.”

Based in Dobl, Austria, redPILOT GmbH develops software solutions that continuously optimize logistics operations to make material handling systems as ecological, social and economic as possible for every single hour they are operational. The redPILOT solution can be seamlessly integrated into a client’s application regardless of which WMS, WCS or WES is in place, either being hosted as a cloud service or provided into the client’s existing hardware infrastructure. Within a short space of time, customers in diverse industry sectors have commissioned redPILOT to be integrated at 47 logistics sites worldwide, including seven sites of the German supermarket chain, EDEKA.
