A Mansfield-based transport company is gearing up for growth after investing more than £850,000 into its fleet of trucks.

Mitchell’s of Mansfield, a member of Palletways, Europe’s largest and fastest-growing express palletised freight network, has expanded its 40-strong fleet with the addition of ten new trucks. Five of these vehicles are already in operation, with the final five expected on the road by the end of the month.

Sustainability and driver safety are of high importance to Mitchell’s of Mansfield and with the wider Palletways network – and each of the new 26-tonne vehicles are compliant with Euro 6 emissions targets. All ten trucks are fitted with 2.5 tonne tail lifts and a range of safety elements – including CCTV, birds eye cameras and HALO lighting systems – with electric-powered pump trucks on-hand to allow drivers to complete their jobs safely and effectively. Mitchell’s dedicated team are already enjoying the benefits of the new vehicles, citing the improvements to safety as a major positive.

Richard Montgomery, managing director at Mitchell’s of Mansfield, said:

“In order to facilitate growth and reinforce our position in the market, this was an essential investment for the business to make and we’re absolutely thrilled with our new additions to the fleet. They’re going to have a great impact on our drivers and form a large part of our plan for the business.

“Our intent is to have everyone working in our traffic department to take their International CPC in road haulage by the end of next year, to further improve our reputation and effectiveness in the industry. Our aims have always remained consistent – we want to ensure that we have a satisfied staff and customer base.”

Mitchell’s of Mansfield is based at Brierley Park Industrial Estate, Sutton in Ashfield and employs over 90 people. The business was founded in 1968 by Robert Mitchell and has grown rapidly over the decades, joining Palletways as an origin member in 1995 and building strong relationships with the network ever since.

There are over 115 independent transport providers that are part of the Palletways UK network. They benefit from shared expertise and resources from within the group to deliver consignments of palletised freight to market faster and more cost effectively than ever before. The Palletways Group, famed for its industry-leading IT developments and operational systems, comprises 450+ depots and 20 hub operations, through which it provides collection and distribution services across 24 European countries, including the UK.
