New Flagship Event To Drive 21st Century Transport & Logistics Says FTA.

21 February, 19

FTA (Freight Transport Association), the leading business organisation which speaks for the logistics industry, today (21 February 2019) announces a new strategic event partnership which will create a unique springboard for the future of the sector. Innovation and Technology in Transport (ITT) Hub is a new two-day exhibition and conference, to be held for the first time in spring 2020 which will provide a platform for all those involved in transport and logistics to experience the latest technologies and debate the big issues which will affect the industry in the 21st century and beyond.

“ITT Hub will be a unique, cross-sector annual event, combining opportunities for debate and discussion with extensive exhibition and vehicle demonstration space,” explains FTA’s Chief Executive David Wells , “and as the leading business organisation representing all facets of logistics, FTA’s partnership with ITT Hub is a logical one. With more than 17,000 business members across all modes of logistics, FTA can provide organisers with access to cutting edge development work and policy thinking which will ensure that the event’s programme provides visitors with up to the minute thought leadership content, and a wide range of opportunities for interaction with leading businesses from all areas of an industry that is at the heart of the UK’s future economic success.”

ITT Hub is also for everyone involved in Logistics and Transport, those whose job it is to move people and freight, and the owners of the goods including retailers and manufacturers. FTA’s experience and expertise will ensure that the programme on offer is relevant for all transport professionals, whatever their job role or level of seniority. ITT Hub, which will take place for the first time 13-14 May 2020, will be located at the brand new and purpose-built Farnborough International Exhibition and Conference Centre.

“Unlike other, more conventional conference and exhibition spaces, the new £30m facility at Farnborough will give hands-on interaction opportunities for visitors looking to trial the latest developments in logistics and transport technology. The event will also feature a comprehensive conference programme, which will combine strategic ideas with blue-sky thinkers to give visitors the forum to discuss the very latest developments in transport and logistics. ITT Hub will be the perfect opportunity for logistics professionals to learn about, debate and explore the technologies which will shape the sector for decades to come.

“It’s about time the Industry had a truly cross sector flagship event, modern and forward looking, combining debate in conferences and workshops, with demonstration and discussion around the technologies shaping our future. FTA is delighted to be a key strategic partner for such an exciting opportunity.”

ITT Hub is the brainchild of business organisation, Binswood Media, led by Chairman Leon Daniels OBE and Mark Griffin, CEO. David Wells added; “Event organisers Binswood Media have an impressive pedigree. With Leon Daniels bringing his unique transport experience and enthusiasm for change, combined with Mark Griffin’s proven track record in delivering market-leading events in the transport sector, it really is a compelling proposition. Additionally, by working with an Advisory Board of industry experts, the FTA and Binswood Media will ensure that the event combines the very latest thinking with the cutting-edge developments from right across the transport sector.”

Commenting on the strategic event partnership announcement, Leon Daniels said; “This is yet another important stage in our journey of launching ITT Hub for the industry. Working with the FTA alongside our other event partners, the venue and Advisory Board, our team will be showing what working in collaboration can achieve.

“None of us can tackle the challenges of road congestion, ultra-low emissions, data, technology and other critical issues alone. This announcement today heralds the start of an exciting future for this new UK trade event today. I believe it will harness the huge experience of the FTA team in engagement with the sector to deliver high quality seminar and thought leadership content. ITT Hub is gaining real traction and momentum, and this highly significant strategic tie up is further positive news.

“Today’s announcement comes at a time when over 50% of original floor space is already taken. Companies already committed to exhibiting in May 2020 are Volvo Group, Dawson Group, Arrival, Williams Advanced Engineering, Totalkare, Mercedes Benz and Wright Group, with others set to confirm plans in coming weeks.”

Efficient logistics is vital to keep Britain trading, directly having an impact on more than seven million people employed in the making, selling and moving of goods. With Brexit, new technology and other disruptive forces driving change in the way goods move across borders and through the supply chain, logistics has never been more important to UK plc. A champion and challenger, FTA speaks to Government with one voice on behalf of the whole sector, with members from the road, rail, sea and air industries, as well as the buyers of freight services such as retailers and manufacturers.
