The Freight Transport Association (FTA), the largest and most influential business organisation in the logistics sector, has launched a new series of events – the International Road Transport Operator Conferences 2018 – to help operators understand and adapt to the changing international regulatory landscape for road haulage. The three one day events will be sponsored by Brigade Electronics, Navitrans and PTV Map & Guide.

Taking place in October 2018 and held across three locations – Milton Keynes, Dartford and Liverpool – the brand-new events will provide attendees with information on the latest regulatory changes and obligations affecting international haulage, including the ban on drivers taking weekly rests within their vehicles, and recent updates to minimum wage requirements. The conference will also debate the potential impact of Brexit on international haulage and share advice on how operators can best future-proof their businesses.

“International operators are facing new challenges, with the Brexit negotiations causing major uncertainty for planning processes,” says Pauline Bastidon, Head of European Policy at FTA. “As the only logistics membership association with representation on both sides of the Channel, FTA is ideally placed to share its expert knowledge and offer practical advice to international hauliers and shippers, and we expect that the International Road Transport Operator Conference series will be extremely popular with operators of all sizes. With the pressures of daily business to contend with, it can be difficult to find the time to keep up to date on compliance and other issues, but FTA is confident that these new events will help operators to find the answers they need, so that they can keep Britain trading with customers in the EU and beyond.”

To help shape FTA’s future policy campaigns, attendees will have the opportunity to discuss and vote on the key international haulage challenges of 2018.

Efficient logistics is vital to keep Britain trading, directly having an impact on more than seven million people employed in the making, selling and moving of goods. With Brexit, new technology and other disruptive forces driving change in the way goods move across borders and through the supply chain, logistics has never been more important to UK plc.  A champion and challenger, FTA speaks to Government with one voice on behalf of the whole sector, with members from the road, rail, sea and air industries, as well as the buyers of freight services such as retailers and manufacturers.
