Ontruck Acquires Digital Freight Forwarding Platform Briver From Wtransnet, Consolidating Leadership In Spain.

27 November, 19

Ontruck, the digital road freight platform, today announces the acquisition of Briver, from Wtransnet, the leading freight and vehicle exchange in Iberia. With an excellent reputation for service and a strong presence in Cataluña, digital freight broker Briver will help to consolidate Ontruck’s leadership across the region.

“Cataluña is a key market for road freight at a European level, representing almost 10% of the road transportation business in Spain. We are excited to continue expanding our market leadership with Briver and to work together to deliver the best service across Cataluña. We value Briver’s shared commitment to excellence and vision of bringing technology and transparency to the industry”

explains Iñigo Juantegui, CEO and co-founder of Ontruck.

Wtransnet’s exchange platform connects more than 11,000 transportation companies across 33 countries and launched Briver in June 2018 as an innovative project to complement this service. Briver uses technology to connect shippers and carriers seamlessly by offering real-time visibility to make road freight more efficient by significantly reducing the number of empty kilometers traveled by carriers on roads. In just over one year, Briver has established a trusted reputation across Cataluña, generating value for both carriers and shippers.

In the weeks leading up to the holidays, demand for vehicles increases to over 40% kicking off with Black Friday in late November, through to Christmas. The Briver acquisition will bolster Ontruck’s capacity to meet the demand of the Christmas rush by increasing the vehicles available for shipments by 20% in Cataluña. This is also anticipated to drive a 15% growth in business volume for the company.

About Ontruck

Ontruck is a digital road freight platform developing technologies to make road transportation smooth and efficient for both truckers and companies who send shipments. They do this by drastically reducing the number of empty kilometres traveled by goods vehicles, therefore optimising their use and utilization. Thanks to the Ontruck platform, shippers can quickly and easily upload their jobs to the platform and hauliers can select which shipments they want to transport from the comfort of their app. All this while contributing to conserving the environment by reducing CO2 emissions.

Ontruck has offices in Madrid, London, Paris, and Amsterdam and has received the support of several investors including Atomico, Cathay Innovation, Idinvest Partners, Point 9 Capital, Samaipata Ventures, All Iron Ventures, Total Energy Ventures and GP Bullhound. Ontruck has closed three rounds of financing worth 36.2 million euros. The scale up has also received the 2019 Digital Transformation award at the Loyd’s Loading List Global Freight Awards, recognising it’s excellence in innovative new processes that are revolutionising the forwarder – shipper relationship.
