Palletways, Europe’s largest and fastest growing express palletised freight network, has led road safety sessions to more than 300 primary school children in the Birmingham area. The sessions, delivered by Palletways’ Birmingham depot in partnership with the road safety charity, Brake, focused on safe and sustainable road use, effective road safety policies and alternative sustainable transport options.
The workshops, which were delivered during Road Safety Week, the UK’s largest road safety event, included a tour of a Palletways 12-tonne truck to highlight the importance of taking care around larger vehicles on the roads.
Brake is a national road safety charity which works with communities and organisations across the UK in a bid to end road deaths and injuries. The charity aims to make communities safer through an extensive education programme and offers support to people bereaved and seriously injured in road traffic collisions.
Members of the Palletways Birmingham team took the roadshow to four schools in the area, including Walmley Infant School and Moor Green Primary Academy.

Jennifer Steele, a teacher at Walmely Infants School said:
“Our children loved Palletways and Brake’s road safety session. The classroom activity was informative and provided practical advice on how to stay safe. Palletways also gave all ninety children in Year 2 a free gift, including a high-visibility bag and jacket as well as a Palletways cap. These will ensure that our children continue to keep safe when travelling alongside roads. It’s always brilliant to see local companies give back to the community.”
