Supply chain solutions specialist, Walker Logistics, has announced that during the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2018 the number of customer orders fulfilled from its Berkshire-based fulfillment centre was up 12 per cent on the corresponding period 12 months earlier.

Picking accuracy and turnaround times for orders remained at a record high level.

William Walker, sales director of Walker Logistics, commented: “With Black Friday, Cyber Monday and, of course, Christmas all falling in the fourth quarter, we anticipated the busy period and adjusted a number of areas across the business so that the high level of service that our clients have come to expect was not impacted by the significant upturn in order volume.”

“The business adjustments included working closely with our regular temporary employment agencies to bring in additional staff. This began in Q3 so that the required training could be given to ensure that the workforce was fully familiar with our processes and working practices in good time for the busy period.”
