r2c Online, which was acquired this year by KeyFuels, a subsidiary of FLEETCOR Technologies, has announced a leadership transition plan. Nick Walls, Managing Director, will step down from his role early next year. Over the next few months, Nick will continue to work with the leadership team at r2c supporting key strategic initiatives.

Having founded r2c Online in 2003, Nick has spearheaded the business ever since, leading the company’s rapid growth and success from start-up to UK market leader, as the r2c compliance and maintenance platform is now responsible for connecting over 24,000 fleets and 1,100 workshops in the commercial vehicle market.

Nick Walls commented,

“I am immensely proud of everything we have achieved at r2c. From the seed of an idea in 2003, r2c has become the de-facto standard SaaS platform in the UK for commercial vehicle compliance and maintenance. I feel privileged to have played a part in an industry wide digital transformation and all the resultant benefits that brings to our customers and ultimately vehicle safety on our roads. As hard as it was, I have made the decision to step down as Managing Director to pursue other interests which have taken a back seat these past two decades. I will leave the business knowing it is in great shape, with new owners who are committed to developing the company even further.”

The company is working on a transition plan to identify Nick’s successor. Nick continued,

“We will be taking a ‘business as usual’ approach throughout my transition, with a continued focus on growth and customer care.

“I’d like to personally thank our customers who have supported us throughout the past two decades, many of whom have been with us almost from the very beginning. I am indebted to them for their belief in the project and our ability to deliver. I can also assure them that they will be in safe hands as the business begins its new chapter with more financial firepower to deliver investments in exciting new product development projects and support services. I am convinced that r2c’s growth story will only accelerate with the backing of the new owners.”

Alan King, Group President of FLEETCOR Europe & Australasia commented,

“r2c complements FLEETCOR’s and specifically Keyfuel’s offering of fleet and workshop management services, particularly strengthening our capabilities in the HGV segment in the UK. Nick’s vision and leadership has made r2c an outstanding company with market leading products and a strong team. As we transition, we’ll continue to focus on innovation and delivering outstanding customer service that has been a hallmark of the company so far.”
