Schmitz Cargobull’s UK Service Partners Increase By Twelvefold The Number Of Trailer Telematics System Retrofits.

Latest stats have revealed the number of Schmitz Cargobull trailer telematics systems retrofitted by its network of Service Partners has increased by more than twelvefold the past year.

In the financial year ending March 2019, technicians in authorised workshops across the UK retrofitted TrailerConnect hardware to 128 trailers in the UK, compared with just 10 fittings between April 2017 and March 2018.

Schmitz Cargobull UK’s Head of Aftermarket, Steve Vincent, says: “TrailerConnect can make a real difference to a fleet’s bottom line and we knew retrofitting would be popular – we just perhaps didn’t expect the pace of change we have seen in the last year.

“These figures clearly demonstrate the level of focus operators are now putting on trailer telematics because of the tangible results the system provides, which cannot be gleaned purely from a telematics system on a tractor.”

TrailerConnect offers operators full visibility for deliveries at all times, can help fleets optimise route planning, and highlights maintenance issues before they become emergencies thereby reducing asset downtime.

The system also provides real-time temperature monitoring to ensure loads aren’t compromised and sends alerts to operators in case of security threats.

The data from the system is hosted on a dedicated and user-friendly online portal, which can be easily accessed through any mobile phone. Installation can be carried out by workshops within Schmitz Cargobull’s 60-strong UK and Ireland Service Partner network.
