Schneider Electric’s Safety And Staff Wellbeing Recognised By RoSPA.

27 June, 19

Schneider Electric, the leader in energy management and automation, has been handed two prestigious awards in recognition of its practices and achievements in helping its staff stay healthy and get home safely at the end of the working day.

Schneider Electric has achieved a Gold Award and Fleet Safety Gold in the internationally-renowned Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Health and Safety Awards, the longest-running industry awards scheme in the UK.

The RoSPA Awards scheme, which receives entries from organisations around the world, recognises achievement in health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.

The Fleet Safety Gold recognises Schneider Electric’s efforts to improve the safety of its staff who drive company vehicles while out on business. The Gold Award recognises Schneider Electric’s wider health and safety strategy and performance.

This is the third year Schneider Electric has been awarded by RoSPA, winning a Silver Award and Fleet Safety Gold Award in 2017, with Golds awarded in both categories in 2018. Schneider Electric has matched the gold standard in safety achieved last year, maintaining its focus on employee safety and wellbeing.

Schneider Electric continues to implement a strategy to improve the physical safety, mental health and work-life balance of its staff. Its success owes to the common culture the company has established. Across the business, employees are encouraged to collaborate and confide in each other and report on potential hazards so they can be rectified quickly.

Schneider Electric was presented with the awards during a ceremony at Hilton Birmingham Metropole hotel on Thursday, 6 June 2019.

Paul Lloyd, Health, Safety & Sustainability Director, UK&I Zone at Schneider Electric said: “This is testament to the hard work of the health and safety team and of everyone at Schneider Electric. For the past few years, we’ve worked hard to make our facilities the safest places for our employees. Achieving a second year of gold-standard safety standards hasn’t just been a matter of physical safety, it’s been about giving staff a voice. We’ve built up their health and happiness by creating a sustainable culture where all feel safe and valued. It’s an ongoing process, and we’re excited to see where it takes us.”

The majority of awards are non-competitive and mark achievement at merit, bronze, silver and gold levels. Gold medals, president’s awards, orders of distinction and the Patron’s Award are presented to organisations sustaining the high standards of the gold level over consecutive years.

Competitive awards go to the best entries in 24 industry sectors including construction, healthcare, transport and logistics, engineering, manufacturing and education.

There are specialist awards for health at work, environmental management and fleet safety, and excellence trophies for the best international, new entry, workforce involvement and organisation operating or based in Scotland. RoSPA’s top accolade is the Sir George Earle Trophy.
