Speedy Freight sponsors UK Super Lightweight Boxer Jake James.

National Courier Speedy Freight, has today announced it is sponsoring local, Super Lightweight Boxer, Jake James in his long-term goal to become a British and World Champion.

Manchester-born Jake, who has been boxing from the age of seven, has taken part in nearly 100 amateur fights, including notable wins for England.

Since turning professional in 2018, Jake has a record of 7 – 0, and is currently planning to take the Super Lightweight title at the Contender VIP series two at the Battle of Manchester hosted at The Point, Lancashire Cricket Club on the 4th April. From there, he hopes to set his sights on the World Championship title.

To introduce Jake to the Speedy Freight franchisees, he surprised them at the company’s AGM on Monday. As part of the conference energiser, Jake hosted a series of activities including a skipping endurance and speed challenge, and a playful boxing challenge. The Speedy Freight sponsorship strengthens an already powerful team around Jake, including his trainer and idol, former WBA Lightweight champion, Anthony Crolla at his gym in Failsworth. Commenting on his training, Jake says, “Anthony is an excellent coach with extensive knowledge about boxing. He knows what it takes to reach the top level, more importantly he’s someone I trust and have full faith in.”

Jake adds, “I’ve dedicated my life to the sport and believe I will be a World Champion. I believe I am talented enough and with the help of sponsorship from companies such as Speedy Freight, I can train full time, which puts me in the best position to maximise my potential and achieve my dream.”
