“Train the trainer” To Tackle Industry Skills Shortage.

Employers should be training the in-house Instructors of the future to help manage the transport industry skills shortage, says the RTITB Instructor Academy.

“To help address the shortfall in skills, our industry needs many more Instructors who are better trained and better qualified,” says Simon Docherty, RTITB Instructor Academy Manager, the only dedicated centre in the UK and Ireland for HGV, Yardshunter and Lift Truck Instructor training. “This is vital for ensuring the next generation of talent gets the training it needs and deserves.”

To support transport and logistics employers, the RTITB Instructor Academy has introduced several new options to its vast portfolio of “off the shelf” Instructor courses, including Fleet Instructor and Pedestrian Pallet Truck Instructor training.  In addition, the Academy is working closely with employers to create Instructor training specific to the needs of their business and operating environment.

Employers can learn more about their options at the CV Show, from 24th – 26th April 2018 at the NEC, Birmingham where the RTITB Instructor Academy will be exhibiting for the first time.  At stand 3A44 experts from the Academy will help delegates discover more about the newest ‘train the trainer’ courses designed to support the needs of transport and logistics businesses.

“Businesses are recognising the importance of investing in their best asset – their employees, so we have seen demand for RTITB Instructor Academy courses grow by 22% in the past two years,” says Simon.  “In fact, employers are often using the Academy to retrain their Instructors who were previously trained elsewhere to ensure they meet their high standards.”

The RTITB Instructor Academy offers a choice of flexible training delivery methods that allow companies to focus on their specific business needs, and all courses are specially developed to help logistics businesses maximise their Return on Investment on training, while improving efficiency, safety and legal compliance.
