Wincanton Shows Industry-Leading Safety Approach With Six New Vehicles For Tarmac.

6 February, 19

Wincanton has invested in six new Mechanical Offload (MOL) vehicles as part of its working relationship with Tarmac’s Building Products business.

The new additions to the Tarmac-branded fleet are three Renault T460 Artic combinations and three Mercedes Actros 2546L drawbar combinations.

They are equipped with many advanced safety features, including an all-around CCTV system. This includes a ‘TurnAware’ camera designed to detect and protect vulnerable road users in the driver’s near-side blind spot.

The vehicles will also benefit from Wincanton’s in-cab telematics system (MiX Telematics). This helps to improve driver safety and vehicle performance by tracking on-the-road data.

All six are also equipped with ‘new generation’ Hiab remote control loaders and will be split across Tarmac’s manufacturing sites in Ninfield and Linford, delivering building blocks across Great Britain.

Andy Shuttlewood, Aircrete Product Line Director at Tarmac, said:

“We’re really proud to see the Tarmac logo on Wincanton’s new vehicles as we continue to drive safety standards across our business.

“The features and technology the vehicles possess will be key to ensuring we maintain high safety standards on the roads, as well as meeting customer needs as efficiently and effectively as possible.

“It will allow us to build further on the collaboration that we are building between two great businesses.”

Ranald Forbes, Director of Construction at Wincanton, said:

“This investment demonstrates our commitment to Tarmac, as well as our prioritisation of safety.

“The six vehicles will increase the size of Wincanton’s Construction Network, which is made up of over 200 specialist MOL vehicles. All of these utilise industry-leading technology to protect our drivers and other road users.”
